THE MILITARY GAMES & OUR SCHOOL SCHEDULE

As you may be aware, many local businesses and schools are limiting their hours during the October Military Games. The Military Games officially opens the week of October 14. Private transportation may be limited during that time, and we are working on how that affects students who get to school on the buses and in private cars.

As of now, WYIS is planning to remain open as usual during the Military Games. It is very possible we may have to close around the time of opening ceremonies - October 17 and 18. For now, however, we are planning a regular school schedule as usual, with no days off for the Military Games.

We will update our weekly newsletter and WeChat feed as we learn more information. For the latest information, make sure your follow our official WYIS WeChat subscription and stay connected to your PTO Language Groups.

TALENT SHOW

Talent Show is TONIGHT at 6:30. You don't need a ticket - just show up!

Join us for this fun evening celebrating our students' talents!

PICTURE DAY

Picture Day will be on Thursday and Friday, October 10 and 11.

Group photos (classroom, advisory, etc) will be on Thursday. Individual student photos will be on Friday.

Students must wear their uniform polo for all photos - white and green are both okay to wear. If it is PE day, students must bring their polo uniform to change into for the photo.

INTERNATIONAL DAY

Save the date for our biggest event of the year, International Day, where our whole community joins together to celebrate the cultural diversity at WYIS.

How can you get involved?

  • Wear clothes from either your own country or from a country you identify with
  • Make your favourite food to share from your country
  • Prepare some form of cultural entertainment that highlights your country and its culture.

Questions? Contact Dayana Sanchez (dayana.sanchez@wyischina.com), coordinator for International Day 2019.

LAOS SERVICE TRIP 2020

Every year, iSC sponsors an international service trip for students in grades 10-12. These service trips encourage students to grow in their experiences and personal character while serving impoverished families in international locations.

This school year's trip will be on January 19-29 in Luang Prabang, Laos. Students and staff will work with local people in Laos to support the community in a way that responsibly encourages future growth of that community.

Registration is now officially open. Interested students must register before October 8. Please register at this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LaosRegistration2020. Questions? Contact Amanda Thornton (amanda.thornton@wyischina.com).

SAFETY WHILE DRIVING ON CAMPUS

The safety of our students and staff is a TOP priority here at WYIS. With that said, please keep safety in mind first when you are on our campus.

Following are some guidelines to remember:

  1. Please keep your school parking permit card visible inside your car. If you have different cars, you may get more parking permits from the receptionist.
  2. Please slow your speed below 30k/hour after you enter the campus gates. When near the parking lot, please stay below 20k/hour.
  3. Please DO NOT PASS the school bus on campus while it is moving. If the bus is parked, passing slowly on the left is fine.
