PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES – NOVEMBER 13

Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTC) are scheduled for Friday, November 13 from 9-5 PM.

At PTC, parents are invited to meet with their child’s teachers to discuss student progress and goals. The time is planned to be reflective and action-oriented. Conferences can be an important part in the education process, giving parents time to ask questions and to work together with teachers.

Upper elementary and secondary students are welcome to attend conferences. They may benefit from the opportunity to discuss their progress in an open forum with teachers and parents. Lower elementary parents are asked to attend without their children to allow for the most effective time with teachers.

Registration for PTC is now closed. If you have questions or problems with your PTC appointment, please contact the office.

Thank you for your support. See you Friday at PTC!

SPIRIT WEEK

Spirit Week is November 16-20. Themes for the week are below:

  • Monday: Pajama Day - Wear school appropriate pajamas to school!
  • Tuesday: Dream Job Day - Do you want to be a doctor? Veterinarian? Musician? Dress up as you hope to be in the future.
  • Wednesday: Color Day - Wear as many colors as possible, or maybe only just ONE color.
  • Thursday: National Pride Day - Wear something from your country that makes you proud.
  • Friday: Movie Character Day - Be your favorite movie character for the day!

If a student chooses not to dress in a theme for the day, that's no problem, but they must wear their appropriate school or PE uniform for the day. Have fun with this, students, and show your WYIS school spirit!

PARENT WORKSHOP - HOW TO READ/UNDERSTAND A MAP REPORT

Reports from October’s MAP Testing are now available in DocBox on PowerSchool. Please log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal to view your child's report.

Now that you have the MAP Report, what do you do with it? How do you read it, and what does the report show about your child's learning? We will have a Parent Workshop on Friday, November 20, from 2-3 to answer those questions for you.

At the workshop we will share with you how to read these reports so you can understand how your child is progressing. To get the most out of this workshop, please bring a printed copy of your child's report. Please come, bring the questions, bring the reports, and learn together how to better understand these regular MAP tests your child takes here at WYIS.

Translation will be available.

Please join us for the High School Science and Engineering Fair at WYIS on Friday, November 27, from 1-3 PM.
