If you have any questions, please contact Paul deMena at paul.demena@wyischina.com.

ELEMENTARY CHINESE CELEBRATION
All ECC and Elementary students in Chinese classes will take part in a celebration of Chinese learning called Beyond Chinese on Friday, June 9 from 9-10:15 AM. Students will showcase what they have learned in their Chinese lessons this year – which goes far beyond just language – through culture, songs, drama and other performances.
Parents of students in Chinese classes are invited to attend the event. Teachers will be sending an email to parents with information to RSVP.
If you have any questions, please contact Catherine Tian at catherine.tian@wyischina.com.

SPIRIT DAY: CRAZY DAY
WYIS Student Council is hosting this month’s Spirit Day on Thursday, June 8. The theme is Crazy Day! All students and teachers are encouraged to participate by dressing up crazy. For example, wearing mismatching shoes, unusual hairstyles, costumes, or colorful patterns!
Note:

SECONDARY FINAL EXAMS
Secondary final exams are June 9-14. On Friday, June 9 Secondary students will eat lunch in their advisory classroom at 11:35 AM and attend the Awards Ceremony at 12 PM. They will be dismissed at 1 PM and buses will depart at 1:10 PM.
On Monday-Wednesday, June 12-14 students will be dismissed at 11:30 AM each day. Buses will depart at 11:45 AM on those days. Elementary classes are in session all day, so Secondary students may not stay on campus unattended after dismissal.

TRAFFIC DELAYS DUE TO GAOKAO
Plan for high traffic and a longer commute next week as local high school students will be taking the gaokao test from Wednesday-Friday, June 7-9. This does not affect WYIS students, though it may affect your commute to school.
If you have a WYIS parking pass, you should be able to enter and exit the school, but ONLY from the north/New Golden Harbor side of Boxue Lu and only by showing your parking pass identifying you as a WYIS parent.
Boxue Lu will be closed to general traffic those days, so please allow plenty of extra time to allow for alternate routes and very busy traffic. Walkers/bikers to WYIS should not be affected.
OUR COMMUNITY: ENCOURAGING STUDENTS TO REACH HIGHER
(part 4 of 4)
LifePlus is a truly international setup that lets us focus on what we do best: helping students to develop a strong sense of who they are, rooted in their conviction about what matters in the world, so they’re equipped to go on and make a life-changing difference for the common good.
Our students also have the opportunity to participate in system-wide events such as Fine Arts Festival, Model United Nations’ conferences, and various athletics tournaments. These events allow LifePlus students to showcase their talents, create memories and make friends across the network of schools. The friendly competition builds school spirit and encourages our students to reach higher goals.
Schools’ Spotlight
Qingdao
International School of Qingdao is the proud host of Model United Nations (MUN) conferences, which encourages students to practice public speaking, cooperative learning, and problem-solving skills—all while researching current political, social, and economic events. Students always come away enthused, talking about the relationships and strong bonds that MUN has provided for them.
Online Academy
LifePlus is also home to the LifePlus Online Academy. The Academy provides Advanced Placement (AP) courses to students in our bricks and mortar schools, as well as other students from further afield. Connection is still priority for teachers and students while studying online, whilst the Academy supplements courses that that couldn’t be provided at an individual school for practical reasons. The Academy also offers Chinese language and culture classes to students around the globe, honoring the country where our schools first started.
