NEW SAFETY PAPERWORK REQUIRED

The safety and wellbeing of our students and community members is a priority for us. In order to maintain the good health our community has enjoyed, we recommend all families avoid travelling as much as possible. Beginning February 22, the first day back from Chinese New Year holiday, we will require all students to turn in one form, a WYIS Health Registration Form (Post-Holiday).

The Health Registration Form requests temperature tracking for 14 days, as well as locations of any places you've traveled outside Wuhan since February 8.

We will check to ensure that each student at WYIS returns from Chinese New Year holiday with this form. If a student does not have this form on their first day back, they will not be admitted into classes. Please print your Health Registration Form soon and be prepared to complete it daily either beginning February 8 or 14 days prior to your first day back from holiday.

If you traveled to another city outside Wuhan during holiday, please report to your apartment community once you return and follow their quarantine rules. If they ask you to quarantine at home because of any travel you have done, please follow their suggestion and only come to school after you have done so.

Thank you for your cooperation and help in keeping the WYIS community safe and healthy.

COLLECTING FORMS ON FEBRUARY 22

On February 22, every student will be required to turn in their completed health registration form before entering campus.

In order to efficiently process students and their forms on February 22, please note the following drop-off locations for students:

  • ECC – No change. Parents, please drop off your ECC child at their classroom’s back (playground) door as usual. You will hand the completed form to the teacher there.
  • ELEMENTARY – Performing Arts Building Lobby. Elementary students will go FIRST to the Performing Arts lobby to hand their completed health registration form in to their teacher. Once they have been processed by their teacher, students will be sent to the main lobby to wait for the bell.
  • SECONDARY – No change. Secondary students will go to the usual side door by the basketball courts to hand in their completed health registration form and be processed by staff. Once processed, they will be allowed to enter the building as usual.

NOTE: Any student who does not have their completed health registration form on February 22 (or their first day back from holiday) will NOT be allowed access to our hallways or their classrooms. Students will be removed to a separate area away from our main classrooms, where staff will get in contact with their parents. We require a printed hard copy for each student, not merely a screen print on your phone. Parents, if you are dropping off your children in the lobby for school, we will not require a registration form from you.

MORNING DROP-OFF LIMITED ENTRY FOR PARENTS

Continuing our commitment to safety first, we are now limiting access to our classroom hallways.

Beginning January 27, 2021, parents may no longer walk their elementary children to their classrooms.

Parents are welcome to drop children off in our lobby, as usual, but please do not walk your child to their classroom. Only students and staff are allowed in our classroom hallways. ECC parents, please continue to drop your children off to your ECC classroom’s back door.

SUMMER 2021 SERVICE TRIP OPPORTUNITIES

This summer, iSC is offering 2 new service trips for high school students. These trips will help students to grow in their understanding of service, connection, and persistence.

The dates for both trips are from June 22-July 2, 2021. Students in grades 9-12 may apply.

For both trips, students will earn service hours by helping with projects such as trail clean-up, assisting with meal preparation, and painting houses. The trips will also include time spent hiking and camping in the beautiful mountains of Sichuan Province, and learning how to responsibly enjoy the wilderness.

For more details, including cost and registration, please see the PDF at this link.

CANVAS PARENT PORTAL ACCESS

All parents have access to Canvas as a parent/observer for their child’s courses. This allows you, the parent/guardian, to log in to see your child’s class assignments, due dates, etc. For step-by-step help on how to access Canvas as a parent, please review these instructions.

If you have questions, please contact Edgar Franks (edgar.franks@gmail.com) or June Lei (june.lei@wyischina.com).

FROM THE HEALTH CLINIC

Our Health Clinic is monitoring symptoms of various illnesses circulating in our community.

  • Some have reported stomach flu over the past few weeks. Symptoms to be aware of: sharp stomach pain, diarrhea, vomiting - sometimes with body ache and fever
  • Additionally, we’ve had high incidence of common flu among lower elementary students. This has especially affected ECC but has also been reported among staff and non-ECC students.

Please report to our school nurse any illnesses your child is experiencing, and take time to review information on our website regarding health policies in the student handbook.
