Get ready for a joyous celebration as we ring in the Chinese New Year with a series of activities on Thursday, February 1 with our ECC and Elementary students. Parents are warmly invited to join the festivities in the PAB auditorium and lobby. The day will be filled with cultural delights, including a dragon dance, songs and traditional Chinese activities. The schedule is listed below.

• ECC: 9:00-10:00
• Grades 1 and 2: 10:00-11:20
• Grades 3-5: 1:30-3:00

Students and staff are encouraged to wear traditional Chinese clothing or red-colored clothing on February 1 and 2. Students who choose not to dress up will be expected to follow the usual dress code.

2 月 1 日星期四，幼儿园和小学部的学生将一起举办一系列活动来迎接中国新年，比如舞龙、演唱歌曲和进行中国传统文化活动等。我们诚挚邀请家长参加，地点在学校表演中心，时间表如下。

Friday, February 2 will be a half day of school ending at 11:30 for all students. School resumes on Monday, February 19.

Exciting news! After the Chinese New Year break, we will be introducing a French Language Club open to both elementary and secondary students. A minimum of five students is needed for elementary as well as secondary. Enrollment will be conducted through a lottery system. Keep an eye on the newsletter after Chinese New Year break for details on when registration will begin.

This year's Read-A-Thon is coming soon! What is a Read-A-Thon? It is a specific period of time where people read as much as they can to win prizes. WYIS Read-A-Thon challenges are always two weeks long and follow a theme. This year's theme is Mystery and Realistic Fiction, and it will take place from Monday, February 26 to Monday, March 11. All students from grades 1-12 are encouraged to participate. The more pages you read in the designated themes, the more prizes you can win.

During Read-A-Thon, the library's hours will be extended to 16:30 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. For more information, contact Hannah Carter at hannah.carter@wyischina.com.
