LifePlus Online Academy will be offering a free online parent workshop, Preparing Adolescents for Life, on Thursday, January 25 from 20:00-21:00.

Parenting teens can be challenging and rewarding. Important habits and monumental life decisions are made during adolescent years. Conflict can erupt as adolescents assume responsibilities of adulthood, especially if parents are not ready to let them. This session offers parents practical advice on navigating the teen years by exploring adolescent development and behavior.

Interested in auditioning for the Talent Show taking place on February 22? Please write down your name on the sign-up sheet in the cafeteria. Auditions will be held on Friday, January 26 at 15:30 in the PAB auditorium. All talents such as acting, singing, instruments, magic or dancing are welcomed. You can also showcase other talents that are unique and were not previously mentioned. Students and staff are encouraged to audition.

Note:

• If you have a music track that needs to be played, please send it to Ms. Calder before January 26.
• Singers or actors must have their songs or scripts memorized and cannot use printed words while performing.
• Instrumentalists are allowed to have sheet music.

You are invited to our Kick for a Cause soccer tournament fundraiser where players of all ages—from grades 1-12 as well as adults—can come together for a day of soccer matches with a purpose. For just 200 RMB, players can showcase their skills on the field and contribute to providing soccer shoes for children in Thailand. Not a player but still want to participate? Join our Support Squad by purchasing a 100 RMB ticket and witness the excitement as you cheer on the teams.

Get ready for a joyous celebration as we ring in the Chinese New Year with a series of activities on Thursday, February 1 with our ECC and Elementary students. Parents are warmly invited to join the festivities in the PAB auditorium and lobby. The day will be filled with cultural delights, including a dragon dance, songs and traditional Chinese activities. The schedule is listed below.

• ECC: 9:00-10:00
• Grades 1 and 2: 10:00-11:20
• Grades 3-5: 1:30-3:00

Students and staff are encouraged to wear traditional Chinese clothing or red-colored clothing on February 1 and 2. Students who choose not to dress up will be expected to follow the usual dress code.

We are continuing winter MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing next week. We conduct MAP tests regularly throughout the year, which allows us to track students’ growth each time they test.

January 22-26: Grades 2 and 4
January 29-February 2: EC5 and Grade 1
