COVID-19 LOG IN POWERSCHOOL

We are still planning a return to campus for in-person learning on September 1.In order to do that, WYIS must meet certain requirements and have specific information from our families.

All our students must have a record of at least 14 days of temperature checks. Instead of paper logs like we've done in the past, we now have an application in PowerSchool that allows you to log in as a parent and record your child's temperatures and other health information. This must be done daily. The process is simple and takes just a few minutes. The PowerSchool app is available in multiple languages

Hopefully, you have been tracking the past several days of temperatures. If not, start today. If you forget a day, don't worry -- you can go back and edit or create log entries in PowerSchool for prior days.

To access instructions on how to log in, view THIS document and/or watch the video below. Need help with your Parent login for PowerSchool? Please email registrar@wyischina.com for help.

CALLING ALL STUDENTS BACK TO WUHAN

If you are not in Wuhan yet and plan to attend WYIS, please come back ASAP! Before you can return to school on campus, you must be in Wuhan for at least 14 days and show a 14-day record of temperature and health tracking.

If you have extenuating circumstances that prevent you from returning to Wuhan ASAP, please contact your child's divisional principal or wyisoffice@wyischina.com.

ONLINE VS ON-CAMPUS LEARNING

Once school starts in person, our online learning program will end, and we will only offer on-campus learning. Teachers will not offer synchronous instruction.

WHAT TO BRING

On your first day back to campus, which we believe will be September 1, please bring with you the following items: any technology provided by the school, textbooks/workbooks/notebooks, and the Parent-Student Handbook Signature Form. These items will be checked in on our first day back on campus. If you have specific questions about this, please contact your child's teacher.

ONLINE LEARNING SURVEY

We have set up a brief survey with questions about our online learning. Please take a moment to give us your feedback so we can continue to improve what we do. Access the survey HERE. The survey is open now through 3PM on August 31.

PRE-ORIENTATION - NEW FAMILIES

If you are a new family to WYIS, you should have received an email already from our Admissions department about Pre-Orientation. Pre-Orientation provides you an opportunity to complete necessary school business (uniforms, photo IDs, finance, etc.) before the start of school on campus. Pre-Orientation will be Thursday, August 26 beginning at 9AM. For more information, please reference the email sent to you, or contact admissions@wyischina.com or wyisoffice@wyischina.com.

UNIFORM POLICY UPDATE

We have updated and clarified the WYIS uniform policy. The most notable change is that black pants, which were part of our PE uniform, are no longer part of any WYIS uniform. Additional clarifications include appropriate length of skirts, skorts, and shorts; approved colors of visible layers; and size restrictions to logos or designs on pants or other clothing.

Please review our complete Uniform Policy HERE, which is taken directly from our updated Parent-Student Handbook.

NEW SCHOOL HOURS

Please note we have new school hours for the 2021/2022 school year. There are no changes to the school day start. However, the school day end time has extended by 20 minutes. The school day for ALL SCHOOL now ends at 3:20 instead of 3:00.

Read more about our new school dismissal time HERE.

PARENT-STUDENT HANDBOOK

Our Parent-Student Handbook has been updated and uploaded to our website HERE. Parents, please read through the handbook to become familiar with our policies and procedures.

This year, every student received a Welcome Packet in their School Start Kit. Within the Welcome Packet is a signature page for the Parent-Student Handbook. Your child's teacher will collect the Signature Page for the Parent-Student Handbook once we resume school on campus.

Parents, please familiarize yourselves with the handbook, sign the Signature Page, and be prepared to turn in the Signature Page the first week back on campus.

VACCINE OPTION

We are pleased to inform you about a resource for a free COVID-19 vaccination for WYIS students 12 years old and above. On Thursday, August 26, from 2-4:30, you may take your child to the Bihu Community Health Center clinic 碧湖社区卫生服务站( 神龙大道蔡家馨苑商铺), which is across from Wanke Gate 3. There is no need for a reservation, as this time is designated at the clinic for WYIS students. To help with processing once you arrive, you can scan the QR code and enter information in advance. (For nationality, choose China. You can update information when you arrive.) This is not a WYIS-sponsored event, and we are not able to offer support with questions or more information. We are merely passing along this resource, which is entirely your option.

BUSINESS MATTERS - RETURNING FAMILIES

At the beginning of each year, families often need to visit the school to handle business related to busing, finance, uniforms, etc. If you are a returning family and need to take care of any of this business, please visit our main office between 8-11:30 or 12:30-4, Monday through Friday.
