"THE BIG LAUNDRY" ART EXHIBIT

WYIS will be partnering with the French School on an international art exhibit called "La Grande Lessive," which translates to “The Big Laundry.” On Thursday, October 20, participants from over 100 countries around the world will simultaneously display their works of art on A4 sheets of paper that will be hung on clotheslines with clothespins. The theme for this year is “The color of my dreams.”

The artwork will be displayed in the outdoor courtyard between WYIS and the French School for the school day. Participation is voluntary, but all staff and students are invited to join. No experience is required—only your imagination and a desire to celebrate creativity through art!

Interested? Here are some general guidelines:

  • The pieces of art must be on A4 paper.
  • Each person can submit multiple pieces of art, but each piece must be on a single A4 paper.
  • Different types of art media are permitted—paint, watercolor, markers, colored pencils, pencils, etc.
  • Write your name on the back of the paper.
  • Bring your completed art to the outdoor courtyard on the morning of October 20 from 7:30 AM until the start of school. WYIS staff will assist with hanging the art onto the clothesline.

If you have any questions, please contact Fine Arts teacher, Tiffany Yang, at tiffany.yang@wyischina.com.

CURBSIDE LIBRARY

The Curbside Library will be open this Wednesday from 3:30-4:30 PM. Come talk to the librarians and return your books. If you want to borrow new books, please place holds in Destiny (the library system) by 3:00 PM.

While we hope this will be the last time we must do this, please be aware that any time we must switch to online learning, we will set up the Curbside Library on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:30-4:30 PM.

MAP TESTING

WYIS continues MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing this week. We conduct MAP tests regularly throughout the year, which allows us to track students’ growth each time they test. To learn more about MAP, please read HERE or contact your child’s teacher.
