ECC & ELEMENTARY SPRING CONCERT

The WYIS Music Department is excited to share with you our ECC and Elementary Spring concert, “Animal Adventures in Music.” Each group from ECC and Elementary will present, through folk or pop songs about animals, the skills they have learned within their music classes .

Due to COVID restrictions, this concert will be a private event that is not open in person to parents or visitors on campus. The concert is at 8:30 AM on Friday, May 13, and will be offered to parents via livestream through our WeChat platform. The livestream will open at 8:20 AM, 10 minutes before the concert begins, and we will share the livestream link exclusively through PTO language groups.

SECONDARY LEARNING CELEBRATION

Beginning at 2:30 on Friday, May 13, we will host our annual Secondary Learning Celebration. The event will feature an awards ceremony (Valedictorian, Honor Roll, Athletics, Character Education, Robotics, EARCOS, etc.), a senior speech, and a performance from secondary students in Chinese language classes. This great event offers us a way to recognize and celebrate all the hard work our students have devoted to their learning this year.

Due to COVID restrictions, this celebration will be a private event that is not open in person to parents or visitors on campus. The event will be available to parents via Zoom. We will email all secondary parents the zoom link and information on Thursday, May 12.

If you have questions, please contact Sarah Reese (sarah.reese@wyischina.com).

INTERNATIONAL DAY

International Day is our annual tradition celebrating the rich cultural diversity at WYIS. Due to COVID restrictions, International Day for 2021-2022 will be a private event held during the school day with students and staff only. International Day is Monday, May 16, 2022.

To recognize and celebrate the diversity we enjoy at WYIS, we encourage all students and staff to wear traditional costumes or clothing that represent their home or "heart" country. We are working with the PTO and may have other opportunities for parents to help contribute to the International Day festivities.

For more information, please contact your PTO language group leader.

SPIRIT DAYS IN MAY

Show your school spirit by dressing up for Spirit Days in May. Spirit Days are on Tuesdays each week, EXCEPT for May 16, where all school will dress up for International Day. We welcome and encourage students in all grades to participate.

MEET WORLDWIDE UNIVERSITY REPRESENTATIVES

The Yantai Huasheng International School (YHIS) and Yantai International Academy (YIA) are hosting their second Global College Fair on Saturday, May 14, from 9:00 am to 12 noon!

The representatives from more than 20 universities will share their schools and admissions information and answer any questions that students and parents have. There will also be a plenary session and various country presentations where students can hear more about living overseas. It will be a terrific opportunity to get information about multiple colleges at once and thus assist you in making informed decisions on which schools to apply to.
