DR. SEUSS WEEK
The first week in March is Dr. Seuss Week, where WYIS joins schools around the world in celebrating the legacy and birthday of the famed children's author Dr. Seuss. Dr. Seuss has been a huge influence for young readers for many years. His books not only have encouraged a love of reading in children but also have been used as a fun way to teach literary devices, grammar, social & environmental issues, and even moral values.
During Dr. Seuss Week, the library and elementary departments will have different activities, guest readers, and a special celebration day. Our celebration of Dr. Seuss also includes a Seuss-a-thon reading challenge for kids. Dr. Seuss Week: March 1-5, 2021.
SUMMER 2021 SERVICE TRIP OPPORTUNITIES
This summer, iSC is offering 2 new service trips for high school students. These trips will help students to grow in their understanding of service, connection, and persistence.
The dates for both trips are from June 22-July 2, 2021. Students in grades 9-12 may apply.
For both trips, students will earn service hours by helping with projects such as trail clean-up, assisting with meal preparation, and painting houses. The trips will also include time spent hiking and camping in the beautiful mountains of Sichuan Province, and learning how to responsibly enjoy the wilderness.
