News & Events at WYIS
Join us this Friday, December 13, as WYIS drama, art, and music students welcome the community to see, hear, and feel unity this Christmas.
Our Christmas program, A Community Christmas, will have two separate programs: Elementary is at 8:30 AM. Secondary is at 6:30 PM.
We look forward to joining in community with you for Christmas at WYIS.
CHRISTMAS MARKET AT GOLDEN HARBOR
Golden Harbor is hosting its annual Christmas Market this year on French Street in Hanyang. The market is on Saturday, December 14, from 10 until 4.
The WYIS Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) will have booths set up at the market where they will sell food, crafts, and secondhand items. Proceeds raised from market sales will go toward fundraising for special school projects.
PAJAMA DAY/DRESS-DOWN DAY
Next Friday, December 20, all WYIS students can get a break from their regular uniforms and dress down on this last day before Christmas break. .
- For ECC and Elementary students, it's a Pajama Day!
- For Secondary, it's Christmas Colors Day! Students can wear whatever they'd like - whether PJs or regular clothes - but they must be in Christmas colors.
Regardless of what they wear, students must dress modestly as usual. Any student who does not want to participate should wear their regular school uniform that day.
QUARTER 3 AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
After-school activities for quarter 3 will be announced next Wednesday, December 18.
Students may register beginning Thursday, January 9 at 9 AM.
When registering for an activity, please keep the following in mind:
- Desktop/laptop works best. The PowerSchool APP is not reliable when registering for activities.
- Firefox and Chrome are the best browsers to use. Internet Explorer is not reliable when registering for activities.
In order to give students a fair chance to participate, elementary students can only register for one after-school activity per quarter. However, if there are still spots available by 9AM on Tuesday, January 14, students can sign up for any available spot in any of the activities. Choose wisely, and please only sign up for activities that your child will definitely attend.
RESULTS FROM STAMPEDE HUNGER FOOD DRIVE
Thank you for the overwhelming support of our food drive. Because of your generosity, we were able to donate more than 2.3 metric tons of food for the hungry in Wuhan.
Below are the winners from each category:
- ECC - ECC5 (Ms. Watson)
- Elementary - Grade 3
- Secondary - Grade 6
It was great to see the WYIS community join together in service like this. Thank you for your support!
EQUESTRIANS ON CAMPUS
For the past several weeks, we have advertised a special Equestrians on Campus event to take place this Saturday. Unfortunately, the event has been cancelled due to lack of participant availability. We may try to hold the event later in the school year. If you have questions, please contact Sally Li.
PROCEDURES FOR FAMILIES LEAVING WYIS
We understand that some families will leave WYIS at the end of semester. We would like to make your leaving process as smooth as possible. If you are planning to leave WYIS at the end of year, please click HERE to fill out the Notice of Departure form, which we need by December 6. This will help us to prepare all the necessary documents for you.
All of the documents for exiting families will be available to pick up from our Registrar, Agnes Liu, on Friday, December 20 at 12 noon.
Please make sure you have no outstanding books, equipment, instruments, or payments due before the last day of school. According to our policy, the registrar cannot release any documents before everything is clear. If there are any refunds you believe are due to you, please discuss this with the Finance Office directly.
Please contact our registrar if you have any questions.
