EC5-G2 LITTLE BUCKETS BASKETBALL CLUB

  • Club leaders: Mrs. Colp (a parent volunteer), Ms. Tu
  • Dates & time: March 10-June 9; every Wednesday, 3:15-4:30, 14 sessions
  • Parent Pickup location: main door of the gym
  • Description: Students will have fun learning beginner skills for basketball. They will learn to dribble, pass, shoot and play defense! Students must wear appropriate sneakers. Bring water bottle. Bring a positive attitude! Please report any health issues to the club leaders if they have. This activity will only take place if at least 10 students register/join.

G1-2 MINECRAFT EDUCATION

  • Club leader: Mr. Lauron
  • Dates & time: March 22-May 24; every Monday, 3:15-4:30 ; 9 sessions
  • Parent pickup location: Performance Art Building
  • Description: Minecraft Education is an educational version of Minecraft specifically designed for classroom use. This will give our students the chance to employ strategies like working collaboratively, self-learning, and overcoming challenges, Minecraft helps foster a growth mindset. This activity will only take place if at least 5 students register/join.

G1-2 SOCCER CLUB

  • Club leader: Ms. Liu (a parent volunteer), Ms. Xiong, Mr. Spigelmyre & an outside coach
  • Dates & time: February 25-April 8; every Thursday, 3:10-4:30, 7 sessions
  • Parent Pickup location: Soccer field
  • Description: Students will learn to trap, dribble, pass, and shoot the ball. They will also learn how to play soccer as a team. Students will be coached by an experienced coach from Soccer Park. This activity will only take place if at least 8 students register/join.

G1 FAMILY RUN FOR FUN

  • Club leaders: Mr. Jacky (a parent volunteer), Ms. Liu
  • Dates & time: February 23-April 6; every Tuesday, 3:15-4:00 pm, 7 sessions
  • Description: This club provides an excellent opportunity for parents and kids to exercise together and learn about having fun from running. Please note that it requires a parent to participate with their kid. Students without a parent's company will not be allowed to participate in the activity.

CHINESE LANGUAGE ENHANCEMENT

  • Club leaders: Ms. Yin, Ms. Feng, & Ms. Fu
    Dates & times:
  • G2-5 January 28-April 1, every Thursday, 3:15-4:30, 8 sessions
  • G6-12 January 27-March 31, every Wednesday, 3:15-4:30, 8 sessions
  • Parent pickup location: Performance Art Building
  • Description: Students will spend time in the club to learn about reading, writing and other language abilities along with activities and games.

G3-5 BALLET CLUB

  • Club leaders: Ms. Xu (an outside ballet instructor) & Ms. Yin
  • Dates & time: January 28-April 8; every Thursday, 3:15-4:30, 9 sessions
  • Parent Pickup location: main door of the gym
  • Description: Students in Ballet Club will learn basic ballet movements, improve their flexibility, and enhance their strength, all while learning to enjoy the beautiful art and sport of ballet. Ballet Club is taught by an experienced ballet instructor (same as G1-2 Ballet Club). This activity will only take place if at least 7 students register/join.

G3-5 SOCCER CLUB

G3-5 TYNKER CODING

  • Club leaders: Mr. Lauron
  • Dates & time: March 23-May 25, every Tuesday, 3:15-4:30 pm, 10 sessions
  • Parent pickup location: Performance Art Building
  • Description: Tynker Coding is a new computing platform designed to teach children programming skills and computational thinking in a fun, intuitive and imaginative way. Our goal is to provide every child with a solid foundation of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) thinking abilities to prepare them for 21st century degrees and careers. This activity will only take place if at least 5 students register/join.

G3-5 BASKETBALL CLUB

  • Dates & time: February 3-March 31, every Wednesday, 3:10-4:30, 7 sessions
  • Parent Pickup location: main door of the gym
  • Description: Students will learn some basics about basketball and learn how to play well as a team. This activity will only take place if at least 8 students register/join.

SECONDARY TABLE TENNIS

  • Club leaders: Ms. Guo, Mr. Yang & Mr. Huang (outside coaches)
  • Dates & time: February 23-April 13, every Tuesday, 3:10-4:30, 8 sessions
  • Description: In Table Tennis Club, students will learn basic table tennis skills, includes gripping, serving, forehand offense, backhand push, etc. Table Tennis Club is led by two experienced outside coaches who graduated from China Table Tennis College, Mr. Huang and Mr. Yang, who have taught table tennis for more than five years. This activity will only take place if at least 10 students register/join.

SECONDARY JAZZ DANCE

  • Club leaders: Ms. Xiao & Ms. Wang (outside jazz dance instructor)
  • Dates & time: January 27-April 7, every Wednesday; 3:10-4:30; 9 sessions
  • Description: This club will be taught by Ms. Wang, a certified and experienced jazz dance instructor from an outside dance studio. There will be 9 sessions in all. This activity will only take place if at least 7 students register/join.

SECONDARY BAND INSTRUMENT INSTRUCTION

  • Club leaders: Ms. Pack
  • Dates & time: January 27-April 8, Wednesdays and Thursdays; 3:10-4:30;
  • Description: For Quarter 3, Ms. Pack would like to offer 20-minute private instrumental lessons EXCLUSIVELY to her middle school and high school band students for 2 days a week during the after school club period. So, there would be a total of 4 slots for students to be able to sign up for lessons (i.e. Wednesday - 3:10-3:30, 3:30-3:50, 3:50-4:10, 4:10-4:30). Students should communicate directly with her to arrange a lesson time. Students are permitted to share lesson times upon request.

MS BASKETBALL

  • Club leaders: Mr. Lee, Mrs. Colp (a parent volunteer), Mr. JP (an outside coach)
  • Dates & time: March 4-May 14; every Thursday and Friday, 3:10-4:30
  • Description: Students will learn the rules of basketball and skills, such as, shooting, passing, dribbling, footwork, and so on. Students who participate will represent WYIS MS basketball team in tournaments. Friday is an optional practice. Bus is not available on that day.

HS SOCCER TEAM

  • Club leaders: Mrs. Rehm, Ms. Cayetano, Ms. Xiong, Mr. Fennema
  • Dates & time: February 1-April 30, every Monday, Wednesday, & Friday; 3:10-4:30
  • Description: The HS soccer team will practice dribbling, passing, and shooting. They will have soccer drills to improve speed of play, transitions, attack, and defense. Goal keepers will be trained. They will work hard together as a team to improve. Friday is an optional practice. Bus is not available on that day.

IMPORTANT INFO

  • Parents can register their children for After-School Activities through the Parent Portal on PowerSchool.
  • Registration opens on Thursday, January 21, at 8 pm and closes on Friday, January, 22 at 11:59 pm.
  • In order to allow students a fair chance at registration, students can register for no more than two activities at a time. If there are any openings remaining on January 23, parents may sign up their child for more than two activities from January 23-Feburary 28.
